C hristmas T ime again, It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you go, Cave shepard had it’s first Christmas sale on Saturday November 5th , customers rushing through taking advantage of the big Christmas sale 20% off perfumes, 40% off books and more, items in one hand and gift wrap paper in the other hand a heavenly mixture of different colognes and perfume as ladies and gents tried on different perfumes trying to make a quick decision on what to get before the sale time was up.We all love Christmas time we must admit; the ham, the turkey, the jug jug, the drinks, gifts, family and last but certainly not least THE RUM CAKE can’t forget the rum cake, if you don’t got rum cake you don’t got Christmas, the rum cake is simply the “bajan” tradition “De party don’t end till all a de rum cake gone”.
Walking through the city and seeing all the beautiful Christmas decorations up already, gets most of us so excited and ready for the holiday season but for others it’s quite upsetting. There has been discussions buzzing all through Barbados on blogging websites, social networks and other media outlets that selling decorations for Christmas in November, is a sign of disrespect to our country and that all of us should be ashamed of ourselves for neglecting the month of our independence to focus on a month where we practically have to face recession after it has come and gone.
Folks, it’s important to remember that the Christmas season isn’t just about food, drinks and gifts it’s about love, giving and Jesus Christ our Lord and savior and it’s important that also take time out to acknowledge that November is the month of our independence. I know some of you are very excited that Christmas is coming but get out there and go to a few of the upcoming Independence events grab a few conkies and enjoy our independence. Happy 45th Independence and Seasons Greetings in advance.
